Louisiana has a history of liking its politics the same way it likes it rice: dirty. But after the disasters of Katrina and Rita, we have learned the important lesson of needing to clean things up around here. We cannot, should not, keep a man with serious ethical problems in Congress, allowing this man to control some of the most important aspects of our life; our health, our homes, and our very lives.
During the Clinton administration, Republicans yelled from the rooftops about ethics and morals, but nowadays they do not think that the rules apply to them. If a Congressman believed that President Clinton and his fellow Democratic Party members should be held to a higher standard, they damn well better follow those rules themselves.
That's where Congressman McCrery is a hypocrite.
In 2005, Tom Delay was indicted by a Texas grand jury on criminal charges that he conspired to violate campaign finance laws. He surrendered to the police, was booked, photographed, and fingerprinted. He has broken the law. And Jim McCrery tried to help out his friend, the criminal.
When Delay decided that the House ethic rules were simply too tough for him to abide by, he proposed weakening them.
And McCrery voted with him. For Jim McCrery, ethics and morality simply isn't an important issue, at least not when it deals with him and his friends. Simply put, he's an ethically challenged hypocrite.
He is up for re-election in November but he is not running unopposed. Dr. Artis Cash is running against him. It is time to vote for a new candidate, a better candidate. It is time to clean up Louisiana.
At the Louisiana 4th blog, we're here to begin exposing Jim McCrery for who he really is, and to support Democratic candidates who run against him.
I am also looking for any tips or suggestions to make this blog a better, more informative place and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, since I am very new to this. I will bow down at your feet if you provide a suggestion or two.
